Goodfellows is a parody of the “I’m Funny How?” scene from Goodfellas. The comic is written by Erik Schuessler and Bronte Erwin with art by Emily Zelasko and lettered by Chris Johnson.
My friend Erik Schuessler was incredible at making art, and inspiring others to create. Sadly, Erik passed away in 2018 from Ewing Sarcoma.
Erik and I would amuse ourselves speaking in an old-timey English accent. He especially delighted in using period phrases that are now lost.
Erik came up with the idea of doing a parody of the movie Goodfellas, where instead of 1960s gangsters from New York, the characters were English gents from 1860s London. This was the start of what became the script we collaborated on called Goodfellows.
Cancer derailed Erik’s plan to produce the script as a short film. So I decided to complete our work the best way I knew how; as a comic.
Goodfellows is presented below for free. Donations are being accepted in Erik’s name and given to the Creative Art Center of Dallas, a place Erik worked with in to allow people to “get out and create.” Donations over $20 will receive a printed copy of the comic.
